Product Design: Kodak Easyshare C190 Camera

A Worldwide Effort For A Vastly Updated Classic

Helix’s long history (1990) designing cameras for Kodak made us a great fit for the design of the next generation 12 megapixel Easyshare C190 camera. The Kodak team was spread across 4 countries, US, UK, Japan and China. Having experience working with a multinational team, we understood how to organize the design process to ensure we met everyone’s expectations before moving to the next phase. Our challenge was to evolve the design of the existing family of digital cameras. We worked with Kodak management to develop an aesthetic for the Easyshare C190 that would complement Kodak’s existing digital camera line-up while showcasing new and improved features which included a 12 megapixel sensor, 5x optical zoom lens and a large, bright 2.7″ LCD screen. Helix led the concept development, design refinement and CAD and worked closely with Kodak’s OEM supplier prior to launch.
