MiniBar Rx partnered with Helix to provide aesthetic and user experience design, along with mechanical engineering solutions for their vaccine inventory control refrigerator. With clean, appliance-like aesthetics we incorporated a touch screen display, ergonomic handle and graphics. Our mechanical engineers developed a swappable cartridge delivery system that not only tracks inventory but secures and protects the medicines from theft or misuse.

Project Objectives:
- Design and develop aesthetic and mechanical solutions for dispensing vaccines and supported products
- Work closely with multiple international teams to create a reliable, secure system for safeguarding, tracking and dispensing vaccine
- Provide multiple options for expandable configurations that support new sizes and products as needed
Helix’s Approach:
- Develop an integrated design with OTS cold cube design
- Mechanical engineering development for vial management
- Test a variety of cartridge approaches with rapid prototypes
- Design and test sheet metal chassis to receive multiple cartridges
- Work closely with Minibar and multiple vendors to deliver functional systems
- Review user testing and field trials to refine design and deliver production solutions

- Intuitive cartridge designs with pull tray access that sense loading and dispensing vials, with integrated safeguards
