Spotlight Labs Inhale Sensor
Inhale Sensor
for US Military pilots
Helix worked with Spotlight Labs to develop their Aviation Inhale Sensor.
For service pilots and other decision-critical operators, the Spotlight Inhale Sensor is essential to deliver real-time feedback on air quality, oxygen concentrations, pressure, temp, and humidity.
A Closer Look At The Project
The body-worn device aids in biometric monitoring of fighter pilots to help avoid hypoxic conditions and life-threatening situations.

Project Objectives:
- Define the industrial design for the covers around specific defined hardware components
- Fabricate a full-scale mock-up to communicat the ideation in physical forms
- Select materials and processes suitable to meeting requirements and sales volumes
- Develop production documentation for transition to manufacturing
Helix’s Approach:
- Develop multiple concepts to target objectives for aesthetics, preliminary assembly and part break up, and materials and processes
- Provide detailed connector designs to mate with existing mil-spec
- Leverage our internal engineering team to develop 3D CAD models while maintaining design intent
Product Solutions:
- Multiple concepts funneled to one direction for refinement and evaluation mock-up
- Production CAD and 2D drawings
- Prepare in-material prototypes for interrogation and testing
- Organize a vendor network to support low to medium-volume production
- Production assistance and oversight
