Environmental Testing

Test Your Product For The Elements

Are you designing a product for use outdoors, in and around water, or in extreme environments? Moisture, cold, heat, sand and other contaminants can have a detrimental impact on materials, sensitive components, and even the use of your new product. In many cases, your device will need to be certified and meet a particular Ingress Protection (IP) standard. This can be a costly endeavor.

As an integral part of our development process we can provide preliminary testing during development to ensure any potential areas of concern are addressed before release to certification. This process greatly reduces the risk of testing failure and provides value and confidence for our clients.

We’re not just talking about dropping your phone on the pavement. We’re talking about EXTREME demands for use in military, industrial, and aerospace.

The key areas we test for when developing products for extreme environments include:
R

Ingress Protection (IP) testing

Our team of engineers and prototype specialists will test your device using submersion or pressure testing. We will provide detailed documentation and recommended next steps. Along with your specific testing parameters your report could include, photos, video and documented areas of concern with recommendations for improvement.
R

Shock or Drop testing

Just like our Ingress Protection testing, our team will customize your drop test to match the requirements for your certification. Typically, this involves sequential drops from a specific height and from multiple angles. The results are captured in a detailed report with any areas of concern and our recommendations for improvement. Also included are standard deliverables such as videos and photos of the device before and after testing.
If you have a product that you believe has rigorous ingress protection or ruggedization requirements, we have developed intensive preliminary drop testing and water testing processes to help you uncover potential production issues before released to production.

In most cases, our Preliminary Environmental Testing process ends up saving you both time and money.
